Thrilled female team rewarded for success

Bangladesh female team skipper Salma Khatun Friday said that they want to begin their first One Day International (ODI) match against Ireland with a victory that will be held today (Saturday) at BSKP in Savar, reports UNB.

"I'm very happy for the ODI status after winning the match against USA... it was a great feeling and definitely the day brought me a huge difference," said the Bangladesh skipper Salma when this reports wanted to know about her feeling at a reception party. 

BCB hosted the reception ceremony in Mirpur in honour of the eves' team which made the nation proud of winning the ODI status for Bangladesh.

She said that there was no alternative but to win the match against Ireland and they want to begin their ODI journey with a win.

Off break bowler Khadiza Tul Kubra, for whose immense contribution enabled Bangladesh to win the ODI status, said: "I'm, for the first time in my life, enjoying this kind of reception and the day will remain as a memorable one for me for ever."

She said although they failed to qualify for the World Cup, but they are contented for getting the ODI status. 

BCB president, directors, officials and sports organisers were present at the reception party.

BCB President AHM Mostafa Kamal said they had a plan to build a separate academy for the women's team and assured the female team of bringing for them foreign coaches to improve batting, bowling and fielding segments of the game.

The BCB boss also handed over a cheque for Tk 0.5 million to women's team from his personal fund.
