Both Bangladesh and West Indies passed their busy time on the net Thursday morning at the matchvenue. After the humiliating defeat in the last ODI match the Caribbean were found cautious on the net ahead of the first Test. They were very serious in their batting, bowling and fielding during the practice session.

Addressing at a pre-match press conference at the match venue Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim hoped the newcomers of his team would play a big role."We don't want to rely on merely the wickets We have to do good in all departments - batting, bowling and fielding - to win the match," he said.

"We are expecting a good fighting… we have a faith on our experienced players and bowlers are doing their right job now," said the West Indies skipper Darren Sammy.

Sammy said they are optimistic to pounce back in the Test series and trying to overcome the nightmare of their last ODI defeat against the hosts.

Good news finally come for the Caribbean skipper ahead of the first Test as their most experienced batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul along with other five experienced players has joined in the squad.

Bangladesh will take to the field today (Friday) with their past sweet memory of first overseas Test series victory against the second string West Indies in their field in 2009.

The tigers so far played six Test matches against the Caribbean with two wins, three losses and one draw since their last encounter in 2002.

The second and last Test between the two sides will be held on October 29 to November 2 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
