Mushfiqur Rahim began his captaincy with a win. His unbeaten 41 runs off 26 balls helped Bangladesh to completed their first win against West Indies in a T20 match as well as the very first match of the tour of West Indies. In the nerve breaking situation of four required to win off the last two balls, Mushfiqur lashed Ravi Rampaul for a huge six over deep midwicket to provide the closing twist in a game that swung dramatically in front of packed stands. He was judged man of the match for his heroic captain's knock.

Earlier Marlon Samuels topscored for West Indies with 58 runs of 42 balls to reach his team 132 for the loss of eight wickets. Later he took two wickets also with a tight bowling.
