Bangladesh A beat Nat'l Academy by 56 runs in BCB Cup

An all-round performance by skipper Mahmudullah Riyad enabled Bangladesh A team to make a good start in BCB Cup Cricket outplaying GP-BCB National Cricket Academy team by 56 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Tuesday, reports UNB.

Sent into bat first, the second string Bangladesh team scored a moderate 207 runs for 9 in stipulated 50 overs with middle order Mahmudullah Riyad contributing captain knock of 54 runs off 69 deliveries with six fours.

Besides, lower order Elias Sunny (25), opener Junaed Siddique (24), Nadif Chowdhury (24), Shamsur Rahman (18), Naeem Islam (17), Jahurul Islam (14) were the other notable batsmen reaching the double digit.

Alauddin Babu claimed three wickets for 51 runs, Shohag Gazi grabbed two wickets for 29 runs while Al-Amin and Sanjamul Hoque took one wicket each conceding 34 and 39 runs respectively.

In reply, GP-BCB National Cricket Academy team were bundled out for 151 runs in 43.3 overs with skipper Mahmudul Hasan making the team highest 30 runs off 62 balls, featuring two fours and one six.

Opener Tasamul Haque (25), Anamul Haque (24), Shohag Gazi (20), Mominul Haque (19) and Alauddin Babu (10) were the major contributors for the Academy team.

Captain Mahmudullah Riyad, who earlier contributed 54 runs, also grabbed two wickets for 21 runs and was adjudged man of the match.

Pacer Syed Rasel, Elias Sunny and Shahadat Hossain took two wickets each conceding 25, 28 and 35 runs respectively.

After a recess today (Wednesday), Bangladesh National team will face Bangladesh A team on Thursday at the same venue.
